Quantum Cognition, Neural Oscillators, and Negative Probabilities

چکیده
This review paper has three main goals. First, to discuss a contextual neurophysiologically plausible model of neural oscillators that reproduces some of the features of quantum cognition. Second, to show that such model predicts contextual situations where quantum cognition is inadequate. Third, to present an extended probability theory that that not only can describe situations that are beyond quantum probability, but also provides an advantage in terms of contextual decision making.

Beyond the quantum formalism: consequences of a neural-oscillator model to quantum cognition
In this paper we present a neural oscillator model of stimulus response theory that exhibits quantum-like behavior. We then show that without adding any additional assumptions, a quantum model constructed to fit observable pairwise correlations has no predictive power over the unknown triple moment, obtainable through the activation of multiple oscillators. We compare this with the results obta...
متن کاملDescriptive and Foundational Aspects of Quantum Cognition
Quantum mechanics emerged as the result of a successful resolution of stringent empirical and profound conceptual conflicts within the development of atomic physics at the beginning of the last century. At first glance, it seems to be bizarre and even ridiculous to apply ideas of quantum physics in order to improve current psychological and linguistic or semantic ideas. However, a closer look s...
متن کاملOutlier Detection Using Extreme Learning Machines Based on Quantum Fuzzy C-Means
One of the most important concerns of a data miner is always to have accurate and error-free data. Data that does not contain human errors and whose records are full and contain correct data. In this paper, a new learning model based on an extreme learning machine neural network is proposed for outlier detection. The function of neural networks depends on various parameters such as the structur...
متن کاملDesign and Test of New Robust QCA Sequential Circuits
One of the several promising new technologies for computing at nano-scale is quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA). In this paper, new designs for different QCA sequential circuits are presented. Using an efficient QCA D flip-flop (DFF) architecture, a 5-bit counter, a novel single edge generator (SEG) and a divide-by-2 counter are implemented. Also, some types of oscillators, a new edge-t...
متن کاملSome Examples of Contextuality in Physics: Implications to Quantum Cognition
Contextuality, the impossibility of assigning a single random variable to represent the outcomes of the same measurement procedure under different experimental conditions, is a central aspect of quantum mechanics. Thus defined, it appears in well-known cases in quantum mechanics, such as the double-slit experiment, the Bell-EPR experiment, and the Kochen-Specker theorem. Here we examine context...
